Conference Theme: Coming of Age: The Policy Impact of an Aging Population

Suggested topics:

  • Aging, older adults, intergenerational relationships
  • Social, economic, mental or physical health and well-being
  • Employment, retirement
  • Family and social networks, grandparenting, caregiving
  • Special populations, e.g aboriginal and immigrant seniors
  • Public health implications of population aging
  • Built environments for an aging population, age friendly communities
  • Transportation needs

All presentations should address the policy and/or practice implications of the findings.  Preference will be given to papers based on RDC data and research focusing on issues of concern to Canadian decision makers and practitioners but other empirical or synthesis papers are welcome.

Proposal session formats:

  • Oral presentation
  • Symposium
  • Poster


Submission guidelines:

  • Specify type of session format (oral, symposium, poster)
  • Title, Author(s) names and affiliation(s)
  • Contact information (mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address)
  • For Oral or Poster presentations include: Brief description, (approximately 300-500 words) describing the presentation’s objectives and rationale, methodology, preliminary findings and policy and/or practice implications
  • For symposia include: a package including name(s) and contact information for proposer(s), brief description (approximately 200 words) of the overall objectives of the symposium and abstracts (see above) for each of 3 to 4 papers to be presented.  A moderator and/or discussant should be identified.

  • Authors will be notified of acceptance by June 15, 2011
